Mexico’s Manufacturing Workforce
Over the past several decades, Mexico has evolved from a focus primarily on assembly and labor-intensive production, to more sophisticated processes and techniques like lean manufacturing. During that same time, output has also matured, with Mexico churning out high-quality luxury vehicles, airplanes and sophisticated consumer electronics. A big part of this shift is due to the presence of a highly productive and large skilled manufacturing workforce that is readily available for manufacturing operations.
Mexico is home to a young, educated, highly skilled and motivated manufacturing workforce, comprising of engineers, supervisors and professionals at every level. More than a third of Mexico’s population is under 25 years old, and three million people are enrolled in colleges and universities.
