Entrada Group Announces Five-Year Agreement for Strategic Mexico Manufacturing Services with China-Based Bluestar Technology
Entrada’s strategic manufacturing platform and central Mexico production campus give Bluestar its first North America operations hub, enhancing competitiveness in the region
October 4, 2017 (Austin, TX) – Entrada Group, which for two decades has been guiding foreign manufacturers in establishing and running their own Mexico operations to enhance global competitiveness, announces that China-based Bluestar Technology has signed a five-year agreement for strategic manufacturing support (General and Administrative) services, with production at Entrada’s Zacatecas, Mexico manufacturing campus to commence early next year.
Bluestar (part of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed BSM Group) is a major Asian tooling, injection mold and parts provider for the automotive, medical and industrial sectors. The company will establish their first-ever North American production location at Entrada’s manufacturing campus in central Mexico. Bluestar’s Mexico presence will put them in closer proximity to end users – like Ford, Tesla, Toyota and Nissan – while also giving them a reliable platform in the Americas to support future expansion priorities.
“Mexico represents the next phase of growth for Bluestar, enabling us to be more responsive to existing customers, while giving us an essential North American production hub for the future,” says Bluestar’s Senior Engineer and Account Manager, John Lesky. “We feel that Entrada Group and their manufacturing platform provide us the most efficient way to enter and produce in Mexico for a long time, while limiting our exposure to risk in a new country and supporting our long-term aspirations.”
Bluestar will commence production at Entrada’s Zacatecas campus in the first quarter of 2018, occupying 20,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space. The company plans to eventually expand its operational footprint to 40,000 sq. ft. Bluestar’s molds are used in production of bumpers, instrument panels, LED headlights, fenders, and switch panels and brackets for a variety of automotive customers. In addition, Bluestar also serves customers in the consumer appliance and medical device sectors, two additional areas where Mexico excels.
“More and more China-based manufacturers are looking to Mexico as a way to enter North America and better serve local clients,” says Doug Donahue, Entrada’s Vice President of Business Development. “As more global producers employ a regional production model, we see this trend only increasing, with a growing number of OEMs and Tier Ones stressing the necessity of a strong local supply base. To be part of that action, midsize companies like Bluestar are seeing the value of a Mexico presence.”
