What would happen to our farmers?

Manufacturers considering a Mexico production location may be discouraged by the potential of a US-imposed tariff on Mexican imports, possibly to pay for The Wall.

Politically though, especially in states with large agriculture exports, an import tariff would be a tough sell.

Why? Because Mexico wouldn’t sit idly by and accept such a tariff. Mexico would very likely respond with a tariff on U.S. agriculture exports, which could have devastating on U.S. farmers and even potentially on manufacturers of heavy duty agricultural equipment or machinery.

A trade war doesn’t make a lot of sense for Mexico or America. Well thought-out, long-term strategy will always be more effective.
